During her last two years in Japan in the 1980s, Jane taught English to Japanese children, teenagers, and adults through Matty's School of English in Yokosuka. Mitsuo (husband) founded the school and developed the method of teaching English used by the instructors, while Noriko (wife) has been the director of the school from day one. They have two adult sons and three grandchildren, and Mitsuo is also an accomplished fly fisherman. It was a real treat for Jane to see them again after 22 years!

We had a lovely sukiyaki dinner at Mitsuo's and Noriko's house. This picture shows the dinner table before dinner; the white items on the salad in the foreground are shirasu (tiny, young sardines; remember these, Brian?)
