We stayed at three places in Hokkaido (the large island north of Honshu) during our second week in Japan:
- Hakodate
- Noboribetsu Onsen
- Sapporo
Up to the late 1800's, Hokkaido was Japan's last great frontier, and even today only a very small percentage of Japan's population lives on the country's second largest island. Hokkaido is full of national parks (at least six major ones and five minor ones), is the country's leader in the production of rice and fish, and is the home to much of Japan's beer industry (Sapporo beer anyone?)
