Jane's and Mitch's Japan 2007 Trip

In this section ...

During her last two years in Japan in the 1980s, Jane taught English to Japanese children, teenagers, and adults through Matty's School of English in Yokosuka. Mitsuo (husband) founded the school and developed the method of teaching English used by the instructors, while Noriko (wife) has been the director of the school from day one. They have two adult sons and three grandchildren, and Mitsuo is also an accomplished fly fisherman. It was a real treat for Jane to see them again after 22 years!

A close-up of the entrance to the Dankazura Pedestrian Path; the big red gate you see here is called a "torii" (Dankazura Pedestrian Path features three of these babies). Dankazura Pedestrian Path was constructed by Yoritomo back in the 1190s so that his oldest son's first visit to the family shrine could be accomplished in style with an elaborate procession!
