Jane's and Mitch's Japan 2007 Trip

In this section ...

During her last two years in Japan in the 1980s, Jane taught English to Japanese children, teenagers, and adults through Matty's School of English in Yokosuka. Mitsuo (husband) founded the school and developed the method of teaching English used by the instructors, while Noriko (wife) has been the director of the school from day one. They have two adult sons and three grandchildren, and Mitsuo is also an accomplished fly fisherman. It was a real treat for Jane to see them again after 22 years!

Here displayed together are the virtues of hard work (represented by the large load of wood on the statue's back) and education (represented by the book in the statue's hands that he is reading). Notice all of the coins that have been placed by visitors on top of the book!
