A small town located in Shikotsu-Toya National Park, Noboribetsu Onsen (not to be confused with the town of Noboribetsu, which is but 6 kilometers away) is the largest hot spring town on the island of Hokkaido. The main attractions of Noboribetsu Onsen include Jigokudani (aka "Hell Valley", where the hot springs waters originate from) and Dai-Ichi Takimotokan (a famous hotel that offers 30 hot spring baths).

Shikotsu-Toya National Park is located in western Hokkaido (near Sapporo) and contains a whole range of beautiful volcanic landscapes, with crater lakes and many hot springs. Noboribetsu Onsen is located in the far southeast corner of the Park.
