Impressions / Lessons Learned

Since we began and ended our trip with Narita City (in terms of accomodations), and since Narita City isn't technically part of either Tohoku, Hokkaido, or Tokyo, we decided to present it separately here. Narita City has two main attractions:

-- Narita Airport

-- Naritasan (a popular Buddist temple)

and is about 60-70 minutes east of Tokyo by train. Since our ryokan in Narita City was only a ten minute train ride from the airport, and we didn't get out of Narita Airport until about 5:30PM JST, Narita City was a very convenient place to crash after the 13 & 1/2 hour airplane ride!

Here is our first and last room (Japanese style, of course!) for our trip.

We had a separate sink area, and separate rooms containing a toilet and a shower/o-furo (an o-furo is a deep bath tub).

Notice the nice balcony off to the right (more on this in the next photograph).

Unfortunately, since on both occasions we arrived in Narita City late in the afternoon and departed early the next morning, we didn't have much of a chance to explore this neat place just ten minutes from Narita Airport.
